Q) Explain surrogacy

Surrogacy is a procedure in which a women gets into an agreement to carry and deliver a body for a different person. The lady involved to carry a pregnancy is called surrogate mother. In gestational surrogacy, sperm or egg is inserted into the fallopian tube of Surrogate mother and embryo get implanted inside naturally. Sperm and egg are of the intended parents. So, there is no genetic link between the child and the surrogate mother.

Q) Difference between traditional surrogacy and gestational surrogacy?

There is a big difference between both types of surrogacy. In traditional surrogacy, the surrogate mother goes to a procedure of artificial insemination and have a genetic link with the child. Whereas, In the Gestational surrogacy women carrier is implanted with the embryo created by sperm and egg. But there is no genetic link between surrogate mother and child.

Q) What is the main objective of a surrogacy agreement?

The main objective of the Surrogacy agreement is to aim at the intention and responsibility to each other. Subsequently, surrogacy agreement states that the surrogate mother does not go for legal custody of the resulting child. It also tells all the rights and responsibility of the intended parent.

According to (ICMR) guideline for the accreditation and regulation of ART clinics, name of commissioning parent goes on the childbirth certificate.

Q) How much days it takes to get a birth certificate?

In general, it takes 2-3 days after the birth of a child to get an original birth certificate.

Q) How to get my baby passport?

After birth certificate, you need to visit the embassy and give them the original birth certificate. Then, they will issue a temporary passport for the baby.
